Greg,

Thanks for reading and responding. Now, I must say this is a bit heavy in condemnation. Ms Karimabadi is from a different ilk as well as, perhaps, a different culture altogether which makes Burning Man difficult to swallow even under the best circumstances. Also, the extremity of the event is simply not for everyone regardless and that's what makes it so sweet for those who appreciate it. The Burn really does weed out many folks of weaker temperment (though it doesn't seem like it at 50,000+ attendees... whoa!).

Yet, I see what you mean if for no other reason than the silliness of picking out Burning Man as a whipping post for her unrelated personal issues. Now that I think about it, I was interested in writing about this because I've actually heard it fairly often from a wide range of people outside the event, that is, old farts find Burning Man as a giant worthless and debauched pit of aimless resource squandering.

My point is, true, there is that about the Burn, but it exists elsewhere and on larger scale (sans all of the fun and creativity) in ways we find as "normal" and therefore okay under the bland banners of the status quo. Would that there was more supposedly aimless endeavor of large scale human creativity like Burning Man in more spheres of everyday public life!

Maryam Karimabadi...

After reading your review, I only had one observation: Your sense of humor, ability to enjoy life and any characteristics that make you human have been surgically removed. I feel sad when I think about how joyless your life must be, and what a miserable existance you must lead to spout such a narrowminded view on an event apparently you never bothered to stop and pay any attention to during your stay.

I'm happy you won't be attending the event ever again... the community doesn't need your negativity, and it's obvious you're incapable of contributing anything useful that would be of benefit to yourself or the event. Stay home and write bad poetry complaining about how males have beaten you down and the system is against you... i'm sure you're much better at that.
